A man approached volunteers Heather and Merit at a vet’s office. He told them about a dog whose owners abandoned 2 months ago. He thought that she had a broken leg after being hit by a car. Heather immediately called one of our fosters, Pat H., who knows the area well where Clara was last seen. She searched for Clara until she found her. Poor Clara’s leg was dangling, and her fibula was sticking out through her skin.

Pat rushed her to the vet who told her that she would need her leg amputated, a procedure that was performed on the following day.

Pat is nursing her back to health in her home.

Clara has a long road to recovery, but Pat says that she is doing well as she recovers from surgery and heart worm. Clara should be available for adoption in March 2023. We are confident that her story will end happily!

UPDATE: Clara was adopted and transported to her forever home in PA on March 18, 2023, where she is leading the good life that she deserves!!
