Dutch Had a Difficult Start But Is Now Thriving!

Dutch was adopted from Crossing Paths Animal Rescue. As a puppy, he suffered a severe injury to his hips and hind legs. The kind and caring volunteers from Crossing Paths worked tirelessly to get his injuries addressed and remedied. Dutch was on the road to being euthanized because of the severity of the damage to his hips. BUT, the volunteers at Crossing Paths refused to give up on him, taking him to animal orthopedic doctors for a second opinion. After thousands of dollars of tests and imaging, the orthopedic doctors determined that Dutch's injuries were not as catastrophic as first thought and that through the growing process, his bones would eventually heal, leaving him with a minor displacement of his hips. This displacement would affect his bowels, requiring Dutch to be on stool softeners and a high-fiber diet for the rest of his life. This unfortunately meant that Dutch had to be listed as "special needs" for the adoption process. Dutch spent many months waiting for adoption and was sadly turned down by numerous families due to his needs. Finally, in December 2018, we found Dutch and decided to adopt him. He came to us from Alabama just before Christmas and immediately fit right into our family and household. Dutch is a kind, gentle, loving soul who loves to make new friends, both human and animal. One of Dutch's favorite things is sampling homemade dog treats from his loving neighbors Cathy and Maria, who co-own MOST Homemade Dog Treats!
