Cosmo's story isn't one he chose. He was originally adopted from another shelter, but somehow found his way to Chilton as a stray. Thankfully, he was microchipped, so we were able to track down his owner. We hoped they had been searching for him. Instead, we were told something we'll never forget: "I know it sounds bad, but I don't really want him back because we already bought another dog to replace him." Our hearts broke for Cosmo. He didn't ask to get lost. He didn't ask to be replaced. And he certainly didn't ask to end up back in a shelter wondering where his family went. The amazing thing about dogs is that they don't hold grudges. Despite everything he's been through, Cosmo is still the same sweet, loving, outgoing boy who just wants someone to love. Cosmo: • Walks beautifully on a leash. • Loves to play. • Does great with kids. • Enjoys other dogs. • Has so much love left to give. We also learned something during a short trial adoption—Cosmo and chickens are not a good mix so he'll need a home without feathered roommates. Cosmo deserves more than being someone's replacement. He deserves to be someone's first choice…someone's best friend…someone's family for the rest of his life.
